Makkah Introduces Free Luggage Storage Service for Umrah Visitors

Authorities in Makkah have unveiled a free luggage storage service to make the spiritual journey of Umrah pilgrims more convenient. This thoughtful initiative aims to ease the burden of carrying personal belongings, allowing pilgrims to focus fully on their religious practices.

Conveniently Located Storage Facilities

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has set up storage facilities in easily accessible locations. These include the eastern area near the Makkah Library and the western side close to Gate 64 of the Grand Mosque. These spots ensure pilgrims can safely store their items without straying far from their worship locations.

Easy Access Through Nusuk App

Pilgrims can avail of this free service by presenting valid permits via the Nusuk app, an official platform designed to simplify services for visitors. The app-based system adds a modern touch to the pilgrimage experience, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for storing and retrieving belongings.

Service Guidelines and Regulations

The service comes with clear guidelines for users. Pilgrims can store items weighing up to 7kg for a maximum duration of four hours. However, certain restrictions apply—loose items, valuable possessions, prohibited goods, food, and medicine are not accepted. A claim ticket is mandatory for retrieving stored items.

Plans for Future Expansion

Recognizing the importance of this service, Saudi authorities plan to extend it to additional areas surrounding the Grand Mosque. This future expansion will ensure that all pilgrims, regardless of where they are, can take advantage of the convenient storage solution.
