Protests by MWM and Sunnat wal Jamaat (ASWJ), which joined the demonstrations on Tuesday, are ongoing at seven major points in Karachi.

The Traffic Police have identified the following blocked routes:

The closures have resulted in severe congestion, leaving residents struggling to navigate alternate routes across the metropolis.

FIRs Registered Against Protesters

To address escalating tensions, law enforcement has filed First Information Reports (FIRs) against protesters involved in violent clashes.

Numaish Chowrangi Incident:

An FIR lodged at the Soldier Bazar Police Station includes charges of:

  • Murder and attempted murder.
  • Rioting and damage to government property.
  • Anti-terror provisions.

The FIR claims that protesters attacked police personnel attempting to disperse the sit-in. It names several individuals along with 300 to 350 unidentified people, including 50 to 60 women and 250 to 300 men. Evidence recovered includes five 30-bore handgun shells from the site.

National Highway Incident:

Another FIR, filed at the Saudabad Police Station, accuses demonstrators of:

  • Attacking police with sticks and stones.
  • Setting police motorcycles ablaze.
  • Shooting at officers, injuring Constables Zaigham and Ayaz Gul.

The FIR names three individuals and 150 unidentified people under anti-terror and riot-related charges.

Sindh Government’s Response

Sindh government spokesperson Sadia Javed has condemned the attacks on police, stating that legal action will be taken against those inciting violence.

In an interview on Geo News’ “Geo Pakistan,” Javed highlighted:

  • Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has assured protesters they can protest at a designated location with government facilitation.
  • The government remains in contact with ASWJ to address their concerns and resolve the issue amicably.

Looking Ahead

As protests continue, Karachi residents face growing frustration over the disruption of daily life. The Sindh government has emphasized its commitment to maintaining law and order while addressing the grievances of the protesters.

For now, the city braces for prolonged road closures and hopes for a resolution that balances public safety with the right to peaceful protest.
