In a major step toward enhancing Pakistan’s transportation network, Pakistan Railways CEO Aamir Ali Baloch has unveiled a new Lahore-Karachi train service, designed to elevate passenger travel experiences. Inspired by the Green Line’s success, this initiative underscores a commitment to modernization and convenience for travelers across the country.
The announcement came during a virtual open court session, or e-kachehri, where the CEO highlighted plans to integrate upgraded train coaches built with locally developed technology. This forward-thinking approach aims to reduce dependence on costly imports while ensuring quality enhancements to the railway system.
Modernization and Achievements
During the session, Aamir Ali Baloch shared recent accomplishments of Pakistan Railways, such as the swift restoration of the Bolan Express within a remarkable 45-day period using internal resources. He also emphasized the department’s ongoing efforts to repair tracks and bridges damaged by heavy rains, which reflect a broader strategy of self-reliance and infrastructure improvement.
Enhanced Passenger Amenities
As part of this initiative, the CEO has prioritized upgrading facilities at various stations. Immediate actions include the provision of clean drinking water and additional seating arrangements at Padidan and Sialkot stations. Such measures aim to make railway journeys more comfortable for passengers while ensuring an inclusive approach to station development.

Land Reclamation and Hygiene Improvements
Addressing land encroachments in key areas like Faisalabad, the railway administration has issued strict directives to reclaim railway properties. Furthermore, the CEO stressed the importance of onboard cleanliness and food quality, urging both staff and passengers to maintain high hygiene standards for a pleasant travel experience.
Public Engagement and Support
The virtual e-kachehri attracted over 35,000 participants and garnered approximately 6,500 comments. This overwhelming public engagement reflects widespread support for Pakistan Railways’ efforts to revamp its operations.
