Punjab Government Launches Winter Clothing Initiative for Students

The Punjab government has launched a heartwarming initiative aimed at protecting schoolchildren from the biting cold of winter. This thoughtful program will provide warm clothing to approximately 21,000 students enrolled in public schools across the province.

The distribution, set to commence on January 13, will focus on areas including Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah. Under this scheme, students will receive essential winter items such as sweaters, jackets, shoes, and uniforms, ensuring their comfort and well-being during the harsh winter months.

This program is a collaborative effort guided by directives from the Chief Minister and implemented with support from the Bait-ul-Mal Department and the Social Welfare Department. Officials have confirmed that the selection process for schools eligible to participate has already been finalized, ensuring a smooth rollout of the initiative.

In addition to this program, the Punjab School Education Department has taken another student-friendly measure by temporarily relaxing uniform requirements in both public and private schools. A recent notification allows students to wear any type of warm clothing, regardless of uniform color or design. This includes jackets, sweaters, coats, hats, socks, and shoes, helping children stay warm without additional stress for families. The relaxed rules will remain in effect until February 28, 2025.
